Inspections....  Wipe and Bulk Sampling...  Air, Water, Soil and Surface testing.......

Excessive exposure to lead can result in lead poisoning and elevated blood-lead levels, which may cause mental and physical damage, especially to children. During the last two decades, research has shown that exposure to lead dust has a lifelong detrimental effect on the intellectual and emotional capacities of the exposed persons. In the past, the major source of lead was motor vehicles. The prohibition of leaded gasoline in 1975 significantly lowered lead levels in the air.

At present, the major source of exposure is lead dust which is a result of disturbed, damaged and deteriorating lead-based paint in older homes. The remaining exposures to lead come from contaminated soils and industries that process or produce materials that contain lead.

Lead detection methodology depends on the suspected lead source. Even-Air can perform screenings and inspections on commercial/residential properties to fully determine the type and level of contamination. Our Certified field technicians collect, document and preserve samples for analysis by a an accredited laboratory and our trained and licensed staff provide fast, accurate reports.
  • For paint, an X-Ray Fluorescence machine (XRF) is used in accordance with U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines.
  • For water, samples are collected following U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines and sent for analysis by atomic absorption.
  • Similar analytical techniques are employed for lead in soil.
  • Air samples are taken to ensure worker safety and compliance with OSHA guidelines as well as documenting levels outside work areas.
  • Wipe samples and visual inspections ensure compliance with HUD and EPA guidelines.
